So I thought Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Finishing Lotion would be the end all and be all for all my crochet braids maintenance woes but my good friend who I got hooked on crochet braids introduced me to a great product that is saving my life with this hair!!
I am so attached to these seven things that if I forget one when I am on vacation or even going to the shower room after swim practice, it irks the hell out of me!!
I was (and still am) in love with the Sheamoisture Manuka Honey And Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque (a deep conditioner) and I am just as in love with their version of the conditioner.
When I saw this product sitting on the shelf of my dread-locked friend's bathroom, I assumed maybe that is what it is exclusively used for! I mean dreads are attached to the Jamaican brand. Nonetheless I was struggling to find an accessible and cost effective oil to use on my hair besides Carol's Daughter Tui Oil (especially since they don't have a store front anymore!).
Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter is my go-to twisting product when I have run out of or don't have time to make a fresh batch of my homemade flax seed gel. I found it thicker than the Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting butter, but works just the same especially if you have thick kinky hair like mine.
I haven't done a product review in awhile! Mostly because I have been making my own products. However, despite deep conditioners being one of the few hair applications that are easy to make, I always end up buying them because they work so much better. I had been regularly ordering online the Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment and recently while walking through Target I glanced at some of the new Shea Moisture products gracing the shelves.
Onward with my quest to find a natural and organic wash n' go product for my 4b, dry, fine type hair. Unfortunately still no success with Darcy's Botanicals Natural Coils Curling Jelly *tears*. I purchased this product from Curlmart based on the reviews of women with my similar hair type that said they had great success with this product for wash n' gos. Definitely not the case with me.
Ok, so I am on the hunt for a replacement wash n' go product since Shea Moisture Curling Souffle is just too runny and not the same quality as it had been in the past (does anyone know what happened?). So I have bought two possible wash n go replacement products recently, one of which I am going to review today.
This is gonna be one of those reviews about a product that is not a rave but its not a total put down either. Shea Moisture Curl Style Milk is just a product that is quite simply...meh.
I would say about more than 80% of my friends use one or more products from the Shea Moisture line - including myself! I mean coupled with the fact that it uses all natural ingredients, available at local stores (Target) and the diversity of products you can choose from depending on your hair type definitely ranks it as one of the best natural products lines on my list.
I stumbled upon the Natural Me Online when I saw a video on the Nikkimae2003 Youtube channel trying on one of their unique headbands at a convention of some sort. I was very intrigued by their selection of headbands and proceeded to buy two of them as well
My first encounter with the As I Am Curling Jelly was unintentional. I was at my local salon after getting my first weave out and since I was running out of time and money, I just wanted my hair styled in a simple wash n’ go with whatever curl defining product my stylist had on hand - I didn’t even care if it was full of sulfates and silicones, I needed to be at work in 45 minutes!
Finally....finally! A twisting butter that is affordable, natural, and has a lot of product in it - enough to do about 6-8 twists sets!
I think everyone should have a some sort of Clarifying or Chelating shampoo at home because there are just days when regular organic/natural shampoos don't do the job i.e. removing chlorine and other minerals from the hair.
I was oblivious to co-washing until I read various blogs and The Science of Black Hair: A Comprehensive Guide to Textured Hair Care. At first I was perplexed, 'shampooing'/cleansing your hair with a conditioner?!
I think I should of been wary of a product that has 'lotion' in its title because lotion implies something that is going on your skin, right?
Ok, so if you have googled "Reviews of Karen's Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-in Conditioner" I am sure you will find videos and posts raving about how they LOVE THIS STUFF!
I really liked these headbands ever since I saw a video of them off of Nikkimae2003 Youtube channel. I'm a big fan of the side flop - you know, like when you part your hair on the side and just throw it over the left or right side of your head, sometimes covering the eye partially.
I think my favorite thing to use on my hair is a nice regular or deep conditioner. Luckily, Qhemet Biologics Moringa Tree Conditioning Ghee serves three conditioning purposes.
I really wanted to write a review on a spray moisturizer today because my own homemade spray moisturizers are going so horribly wrong!
I was really excited to purchase a few items from the Just Natural Organic Care line, precisely because they have products that cater to 'African-American' Hair.
I added Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream as one of my favorite moisturizing products in my hair care regimen primarily because it is the only product I am using at the moment that basically gives me the same effects as other moisturizing products I have used in the past.
After reading about the importance of balancing Protein and Moisture in your hair from books such asThe Science of Black Hair: A Comprehensive Guide to Textured Hair Care, I made an effort to incorporate some sort of protein treatment into my hair regimen.
After much waiting for Qhemet Biologics products to be available for purchase again - I think they were renovating their product formulas and whatnot - I was able to purchase three of their products at a specialty organic food store called Erewhon (think healthier than Whole Foods).
I love this product precisely because of its dual shine and moisturizing components.
I LOVE this product. I love this product so much that I haven't even ventured out to try other setting solutions to hold and produce curls from foam roller sets.
I love hair companies that create these really delectable hair product titles from something sugars, smoothies, puddings etc (Carol's Daughter is amazing at it!) But sometimes only a few hair products actually convey the connotation of their title. Oyin Handmade Whipped Pudding, 8oz is one of those products that actually lives up to its delicious name.
I really love trying out new products for the wash n' go style just because my #1 go-to product for wash-n-go's is Shea Moisture Curling Souffle - I know so many people young and old, men and women that use it!
This is my first time trying out a new hair salon since forever! Most of the time my hair stylists have moved, closed down, or just fall off the map - not forgetting to mention that I usually went to the hair salon once a year before 2010, so I couldn't say I really kept in touch.
