Shea Moisture Curling Souffle Review

Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Soufflé! (gel)

Ok, I am going to be honest. I never thought it was possible to have a product, work so well, have ALL natural ingredients AND be sold at a location (Target) less than a mile from me.

If you are like me, trying to live a life free of parabens, paraffins, methicones, petrolatum  phenoxyethanol, and bunch of other stuff I cannot pronounce then you are either spending a lot at online hair stores to qualify for that free shipping and getting those rare products lol OR you have to drive 10 miles out of your way to get to the closest Whole Foods Market.

Quite simply, that is why I LOVE the Shea Moisture products. Not only do they have a strong track record of producing great products over decades, they adhere to using natural ingredients. Most Shea Moisture products can be bought at Target which is where I bought the shampoo, conditioner, and most importantly the Shea Moisture Curling Souffle.

Sometimes I like to wear my hair out and without some sort of holding agent in it to hold the curl, it can quickly frizz/turn into a unkempt afro :( I tried the Jessicurl confident coils collection but I found it to be too drying for my hair (others have had great success with it - just depends on your hair type). With my 4B, 4C curls they are always thirsty! I was amazing how the Shea Moisture Curly & Hold smoothie kept it soft and moisturized for two, three, even four days after putting it on only ONE time.

For the lazies out there, I usually put a cap on my head at night with my hair still out instead of combing it out and braiding it up. The travesty! In any case, the next morning, because the Shea Moisture Curly & Hold smoothie is so heavily concentrated, I usually just spritz some mineral water into my hair to stretch out the curl once again. That is why post gym today it just felt great to shower, get dressed, spritz some water in my hair and go about my business.

The only drawback I find with the product is that it does tend to leave some residue later on (4th day on usually) especially if you are reapplying the product everyday. It is not residue you can see but if you stick you hand in your hair you come out with a thin slightly balmy film on your hand - so definitely use sparingly and use more mineral water to refresh hair 2 and 3 days out. I usually wash and comb it out the fourth day.
