I would say about more than 80% of my friends use one or more products from the Shea Moisture line - including myself! I mean coupled with the fact that it uses all natural ingredients, available at local stores (Target) and the diversity of products you can choose from depending on your hair type definitely ranks it as one of the best natural products lines on my list. Recently my default, go-to wash n' go product that helps define my curl pattern without drying it out, Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Soufflé, has been failing me recently. I am not sure if it is the weather (warm temperatures melt the product) or whether the company has changed the makeup of the product, but the Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Soufflé is now so runny. In addition, I feel like the gel is just on my hair and not helping define the curls whatsoever. Before it was more gelatinous and easy to scoop out and apply to the hair and keep the hair look fresh and curly all day long. The only downfall is still the fact that it can get a little sticky after three days but I feel like there is more of a grease based, sticky residue left on the back of my neck now!
In any case I needed a change and decided to try out Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Frizz-Free Curl Mousse - something I think is relatively new to the Shea Moisture line. Buying this unfortunately was another mistake partly because I didn't read "For wavy, curly hair" - I am definitely in the category of having thick, kinky curly, fine, brittle hair and should of figured a mousse would not help my situation when attempting a wash n go.
Feels great the first three hours after you apply the product but after that my hair starts feeling and looking dry - that's when I start wishing I had some of the original Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Soufflé to get that moisture retention!
In any case it was not a total loss since I recently put my hair in crochet braids (will write a review next week!) and so this Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Frizz-Free Curl Mousse will be a good product to freshen up and give some shine to the synthetic hair that is crocheted in - in addition to holding the curl pattern for the next month. Hopefully it will serve a better purpose that way.
