Product Review: Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter

Finally....finally! A twisting butter that is affordable, natural, and has a lot of product in it - enough to do about 6-8 twists sets! yay! I am so used to going through twisting products in about three twist sets that I am tempted to start making my own concoctions (a serious consideration).

When I bought and received Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butterin the mail from Curl Mart, I was relieved to see it in a sizable tub - and for US$16.00 that is not a bad bargain. When I opened it I was even more pleased to see the contents to be soft, fluffy and even slightly jelly (I find this type of consistency the best for my dry, fragile, 4a/4b type hair). It kind of reminded me of a more gelatinous version of Oyin Handmade Whipped Pudding. The product itself is white and dries really well with little residue. It does have a subtle Almond scent that is not overpowering. You also don’t have to scrape to get the product out because it is not solidified - it is very creamy.

When I did my twists they were soft and held well. The ends I had to work on a little bit more because the product does not have the gel hold like some twisting products. I think next time I will use the Qhemet Biologics Hydrate & Twist Butter to seal and close the ends better because it has more of that waxy (beeswax) consistency that is good for a solid hold.
