Guest Blogger PhiPhi216 talks Hairstyle experimenting!

I just got out of a full-headed weave, and I’m loving my own hair even more now! I forgot how thick and voluptuous it was, and how I can do so many hairstyles with it. Before I got my weave, my hair was extremely damaged from all of the press and curls I would get from my hairdresser out in New Jersey. She would press it so hard that in the ends of my hair was heat damaged – for example, when my hair was natural, the ends of my Afro were straight. It was a natural mess. Additionally, I colored my hair a lot, which also caused a lot of damage. Eventually, I put my hair under the weave just to try it out.

For 2 and half months I loved my weave. It gave me the length I wanted. But after a while, I missed my own twists, afros, braids, etc – my OWN hair. After my weave ran its course (or should I say track), I got it taken out and asked my hairdresser to give me a winter haircut. Little did I know that she would be cutting my hair significantly, especially since I had a lot of hair growth while wearing the weave. My hairdresser turned me around to face the mirror, and I absolutely loved my haircut (it was pressed out and layered around my face). I had never worn it that short before. My hairdresser had basically cut all of the straight damaged ends off of my hair. And my hair was even more awesome when I finally wet it and wore it as an Afro. It was full and soft and completely healthy! Today, I even wore it in Bantu knots.
