Foam Rod Curlers - Twist-Out Hairstyle

I wanted to share my new favorite hair style that I rock at least once a month/on a special occasions since my birthday last summer. I love this hairstyle because it gives this classic voluminous look, takes less than 2hrs of your time, and can last for up to a week! I usually plan to do this hairstyle after I have worn two-week or even three-week old twists (don't worry if your twists are looking 'hairy' or slightly unkempt - the pomade you can put on it and the spiral pattern from the Foam Rod Curlerscan hide all of that). Sometimes I wash my hair beforehand, but usually I do it while my hair is completely dry to cut down on drying time.

I take about two twists and put some type of moisturizing shine pomade (I use Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey) and I also put some Jane Carter Solution Wrap and Roll product on it. Check out my review on this product from last week if you would like to know more.

I use the medium size curlers because my curls come out rather tight. If you want even tighter curls you can go even smaller in terms of the foam rod curler size. There are also jumbo size foam rod curlers which give a nice wavy look - I hope to try them one day when my hair is a little bit longer. After wrapping two twists around each rod curler, I turn the ends of the rod inwards because all of that needs to fit underneath some sort of dryer, unless you opt for using a blow dryer.

I am usually too lazy to break out the full blown Hard Bonnet Hair Dryer so I use a Soft Bonnet Hair Dryer Attachment  . You can read more about how much I love those things here! They are so convenient and cheap, you can do it right in your bathroom. Make sure to put it on a warm setting because it gets rather hot with all the heat trapped under there.

I usually wear the bonnet for about 20-30 minutes depending how damp my hair is from the Jane Carter Solution Wrap and Rolland then I take my time to get ready, clean up, put on some makeup, clothes, etc - so about another 30 minutes. I have done this hairstyle where I only wore the bonnet for thirty minutes then I took it out the foam rod curlers immediately because I was stressed for time, but the hair ended up being still damp and the spirals and curls only held for about three days, instead of seven.

After that, I take out the Foam rod curlers one by one, untwisting each twist after removing the rod. If you take out all the rods first then its hard to go back in there and undo every twist. From there you will get some volume and really tight curly fry looking curls.

The curl sometimes tends to stretch out during the day and next several days, but I find my hair still holds some type of wavy curly pattern.

I also find the Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey really, really keeps it moisturized for almost three or four days after that. I don't have to muss up my hair putting moisturizer and oils in it (I think its because I use a liberal amount of the mimosa hair honey because my hair is really dry and brittle).

I have to give credit to a video I found on Nikkimae2003 YouTube channel for giving me the inspiration (I couldn't find the exact video but there are lots to watch and enjoy!)
