With Synchronized swimming season ending as of this past weekend...
I am free to literally go to town with my hair (granted I got the chance to practice and perform with crochet braidsin and it was a great protective style even for swimming). Less than 4 hours after this weekend's performance ended, I was at my friend's house getting some semi-thick box braids put in.
I have been wanting these since the beginning of synchro season so I had to wait awhile before I could wear them and I got them put in just in time for Halloween where I plan on being Justice from Poetic Justice(and yes I do have someone being my Tupac).
My friend who did my braids at a great price is very meticulous with her work and made sure all the braids were the same size and that the parts on my scalp were straight did a wonderful job in about 5 hours time. She suggested I use RastAfri Braid hair ($6/pack) because it was more manageable and softer than the traditional Black n Gold braiding hair ($3/pack). I used about 4.5 packs given the thickness of my braids and the amount of hair on my hair (I have a decent amount).
I haven't had box braids since I was 16 (almost ten years) so it was nice to return to something that gives me a break from doing my hair for awhile. I plan on leaving them in for a month, anticipating that the thicker the braid the more hairy the braids will become over time. After I give me hair a rest post braids I plan on trying out Yarn Braids!
